The original building, a three story structure, was constructed in 1870.  In 1926, the fourth story was added to house the jail. In 1940, the building was remodeled under the Works Project Administration. Text on reverse: Bibb County Court House, completed in 1924, as another part of Macon’s gigantic building program. In the foreground is seen the upper parts of a monument to the Confederate Soldiers of America.
