Decorative pedimented entrance with cornice and pilasters. Good condition. Has 52 guest rooms. Date of Construction: c. 1927-28. The Hotel Marie was located here until it burned in 1926. The "Community Hotel Corporation" was incorporated to build a new one. At a cost of $100,000, it was opened for business early in 1928. Named after the distinguished John A. Quitman, a great southern statesman.
