Tanner brought boxcars of sand from Florida to his lake property in western Carroll County to create what was originally known as the "Beach at Lakeview." It opened to the public in 1954. By 1960, it was known as "Tanner's Beach." In 1971, the state bought the property and renamed it John Tanner State Park. It now features shelters, a concession stand, overnight lodging, a miniature golf course, and campgrounds in addition to swimming, fishing and bike trails.</dc:description><dc:format>image/jpeg</dc:format><dc:language>eng</dc:language><dc:rights>http://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/</dc:rights><dc:source>Benjamin M.
