Mrs. Rudene Hollingsworth, Chm. Mrs. Nancy Sparkman, Chm. Mrs. Mary Florence Word, Chm. Mr. Myron W. House, Chm. This Society was organized in 1976 in Carrollton, Georgia, for the purpose of preserving local records and evaluating and sharing such records with persons who have an interest in genealogy.. Membership is open to all persons who are interested in genealogy in Carroll County and surrounding areas, or persons living anywhere who have roots in Carroll County or an interest in the founding fathers.and history of the County. This Society does not assume responsibility for errors in fact or opinion which may appear in articles furnished by its members• We will gladly correct any errors brought to our attention. -2- Dear Members: It is an honor to have been asked to serve as your President for 1984. I am new to genealogical research and new to this area so everyone is going to have to help me, but I will surely do my best. Suggestions are most welcome also. The Publications Committee tells me we continue to need materials for the Quarterly. Our Quarterly is one of the_best I have seen, but your help must be continued if we are to maintain its high standards. One entire issue (probably Fall this year) is being planned to correct mistakes in the Cemetery Book so give us your corrections. We will also include the old Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Villa Rica which was completely omitted. It is time to renew our memberships again. We hope those of you who live too far away to join us regularly will continue your memberships and visit with us occasionally when you are in the area. Some ideas have been suggested for projects now that the Cemetery Book is a reality, but I would like your suggestions on those things we can do which will be the most help to anyone searching for their families. I cannot close without expressing our gratitude and thanks to Myron House for the excellent job he has done as our President this past year. He has already given me much valuable assistance and advice. Please let me know if I can help you in any way. Sincerely, Marcia S. McGahee -3- WALKER AND CULPEPPER FAMILIES James W. A. Lassetter, 808 Lakeshore Drive, Lexington, KY 40502. Mrs. Lassetter states, "These pages are from the Bell Family Bible. The Bible just 'turned up' one day in our library. No one knows who left it or when." She also mentions that there was a typed sheet inserted (duplicating the births and deaths shown on Pages 17 and 18 of this Quarterly), with a notation that the places of birth are not recorded. Also on the typed sheet was the following: "Attached is a copy of Birth Certificate of Olive Grace Bell showing: Father - Warner Lee Bell, birthplace Carroll Co., Ga. Mother - Mary Ella Thompson, birthplace Heard Co., Ga." Mrs. Lassetter says, however, that the birth certificate was missing when the Bible was found. .... / -13- / o 4 X, \ f* I*NSX c«»1CM mm K A-. r* fix 38* .tsH n9 *'X -vX a>Ss g§ ||A|1 m 14 \ • r O 3 v\ 5# MS vv £ w K Sk r J or5 for i % # ?
