Baldwin's claims of sexual harassment and favors by policemen. The clips begin with Dewey Brown reading from a prepared statement to a crowded meeting of the city commission. His remarks are transcribed below:\n\"I have never grabbed Mrs. Baldwin and tried to kiss her in the City Hall. This incident did not happen. I have always treated Mrs. Baldwin with respect. I have not done the acts that she charged or stated. I have devoted my best efforts and ability at all times to render good and efficient service to our city. I love the city of Avondale Estates and its people, and it is my desire to continue to serve as its city manager.\"\nThe next clip shows Mrs. M. E. Baldwin reading from a prepared statement. She states, \"In order to prove my own good faith, I am willing to submit to a lie detector test given by a qualified operator concerning all matters concerned in my original statement, provided Mr. Dewey Brown will agree to a similar test.\" Applause and whistling can be overheard from the crowd off-screen.\nFrom approximately 1:15-2:08 Mr. Brown is shown speaking but there is no sound. The sound resumes as Mr. Brown is mid-speech which is transcribed below:\n\"At the time officer/office of police captain was abolished, I requested Officer Baldwin to wear badge number five for the time being until we could get new badges. I have commended him on his work numerous times. I do not recall seeing Mrs. Baldwin at Sam's Crossing. I did not speak to Officer Baldwin about her not speaking to me, and I did not ask him at any time to tell her to speak to me. As to this statement regarding the automobile being parked on Lakeview Place, the person she refers to is a friend of my family and someone who has visited in my home. The families are members of my church and my wife and I are godparents to their children--child. The police did not bring me a newspaper every morning. It was the custom of the police department that if the morning carry gave them an extra paper to leave me one. The air conditioner was bought by the officers and when the new car was purchased because of the expense in operating this unit, it was not installed and the police officers disposed of the air condition unit themselves. As to the police officers convention, Mayor Potter and I had been to Griffin and on the way back we had car trouble and I did not go to the convention or direct the closing of the room at The Dinkler Plaza.\"\nApplause can be heard off-screen. The next clip cuts to Mrs. Baldwin mid-speech. Her remarks are transcribed below:\n\"I made certain statements concerning Mr. Dewey Brown. These statements were widely publicized and there is no need to repeat them at this time. It was my choice to make an open public statement of these matters as I felt my late husband would have wanted the voting public of Avondale to have this information. However, I was completely unprepared for these events which have followed my original statement. A number of rumors have been circulated about my own character. This has been a matter of great embarrassment to me and to my son.\"\nTitle supplied by cataloger.\nSupporting information was taken from the following source: Simmons, Ted. \"Avondale Manager Hits Widow's Story.\" The Atlanta Constitution 11 February 1964. 1.
