The series begins with a shot of a sign reading "Newport and The Jazz Festival welcomes you -- Where there's life!". The clips go on to show a gift shop called "The Treasure Island" and a toy store which have broken windows, National Guard troops and policemen, and workers cleaning up piles of debris.
