Illustrator, portrait artist, and muralist Dora Wheeler Keith (1856-1940) (referred to as "Dearie" in the diary) and her husband, New York lawyer and reformer Boudinot Keith (1859-1925) (referred to as "Uncle Boudi" in the diary) were Hazel Beamer's hosts and guardians in New York City.
