In the letter, Keith notifies Mrs. Beamer that her daughter, Hazel Beamer (before she took the married surname of Cutler, and who lived from 1901-1980), will star in a solo role in the production "Du Barry" that is being produced by stage designer Ben Ali Haggin, III (1882-1951). Keith notes that the production will travel to Atlanta, Georgia for a week, and hopes that Mrs. Beamer will be able to visit from Thomasville, Georgia to see Hazel perform. Keith notes that the production will travel to other cities (such as New Orleans and San Francisco), and hopes to have chaperoned places for Hazel to stay while touring. She emphasizes that the production is an extraordinary opportunity for Hazel, and encourages Mrs. Beamer not to worry about her daughter traveling. Dora Wheeler Keith and her husband, New York lawyer and reformer Boudinot Keith (1859-1925) were Hazel Beamer's hosts and guardians in New York City, where Hazel Beamer attended college and performed as a dancer before she married.</dc:description><dc:format>application/pdf</dc:format><dc:language>eng</dc:language><dc:rights>http://rightsstatements.org/vocab/NoC-US/1.0/</dc:rights><dc:subject>Keith, Dora Wheeler, 1856-1940--Correspondence</dc:subject><dc:subject>Beamer, Bessie Baker, 1864-1955--Correspondence</dc:subject><dc:subject>Cutler, Hazel Beamer, 1901-1980</dc:subject><dc:subject>Mothers and daughters--Georgia--Thomasville</dc:subject><dc:subject>Entertainers--New York (State)--New York</dc:subject><dc:subject>Haggin, Ben Ali, 1882-1951</dc:subject><dc:title>Letter, New York, New York, to Bessie Beamer, 1923 March 27</dc:title><dc:type>Text</dc:type></oai_dc:dc>
