The letters were written during the 1930s, 1940s, and 1950s, and often describe the activities of her son Miles (Henry Miles Cutler, II, born in 1935), family sightseeing, Miles Cutler's interest in attending Phillips Exeter Academy, and travel across the eastern United States. She describes seeing United States President Franklin D. Roosevelt in 1937 during one of his visits to New York City, where he kept a townhouse in her neighborhood and mentions in detail how his handlers accommodated his disability. Included among the letters is a photographic brochure for the Long Trail Lodge in Rutland, Vermont. Throughout her correspondence, Hazel Beamer Cutler often notes the difference in climate between Vermont (where she is often writing from) and Georgia (where her mother is). There is a brief note written in a child's handwriting (possibly by Henry Miles Cutler, II to his grandmother) thanking her for a tarpon fish.</dc:description><dc:format>application/pdf</dc:format><dc:language>eng</dc:language><dc:rights>http://rightsstatements.org/vocab/NoC-US/1.0/</dc:rights><dc:subject>Cutler, Hazel Beamer, 1901-1980--Correspondence</dc:subject><dc:subject>Beamer, Bessie Baker, 1864-1955--Correspondence</dc:subject><dc:subject>Families--Vermont</dc:subject><dc:subject>Families--Georgia--Thomasville</dc:subject><dc:subject>United States--Description and travel</dc:subject><dc:subject>Presidents--United States</dc:subject><dc:subject>People with disabilities--New York (State)--New York</dc:subject><dc:subject>Hotels--Vermont--Rutland</dc:subject><dc:subject>Vermont--Climate</dc:subject><dc:subject>Georgia--Climate</dc:subject><dc:subject>Grandparent and child--Georgia--Thomasville</dc:subject><dc:subject>Grandparent and child--Vermont</dc:subject><dc:subject>Mothers and daughters--Georgia--Thomasville</dc:subject><dc:title>Cutler, Hazel to Bessie Beamer</dc:title><dc:type>Text</dc:type></oai_dc:dc>
