PRESIDENT Room 208 King Frezicr Student (enter May 2, 1986 <912) 356-2505 Dear Students, I would like to thank you for your votes and support and the confidence you had in me during my terms in office as your Student Government Association President. It has been indeed an enriching and rewarding experience serving as your S.G.A. President. I sincerely hope that the goals and objectives we have yet to achieve, will still be achieved by future Student Government Leaders. Even though we did not accomplish a II of our goals the facts remain that we did accomplish many of our goals. "The tragedy of life is often not in our failure, but rather in our complacency; not in our doing too much, but rather in our doing too little; not in our living above our ability, but rather in our living below our capaci t it ies. " I would like to share my learning experience briefly with future and prospective S.G.A. Leaders, excerpts from Paradoxical Commandments of Leadersh i p. 1 . If you do good, people will accuse you of selfish ulterior motives. Do Good Anyway! 2. If you are successful, you win false friends and true enemies. Succeed Anyway ! 3. The good you do today will be forgotten tomorrow. Do Good Anyway I 4. Honesty and frankness make you vulnerable. Be Honest And Frank Anyway ! 5. What you spend years building may be destroyed overnight. Bui I d Anyway ! 6. Give the "Students" the best you have and you' I I get kicked in the teeth. Give the "Students" the best you have anyway! You'll find that there is no such thing as Going Through .... (Organizations/ S.G.A.) Just for fun. It's seldom fun. It's tiring, ridiculously nerve wracking, demoralizing, and seemingly impossible. You've got to be deeply committed to students. All of them, not just the ones who are nice to you.... In order to go through with it. Good luck in the future and I wish each of you much success In your endeavors. Last but not least, "Remember, If you don't follow your dreams, you will never know what's on the other side of your rainbow." Si ncere ly , Adrian B. I hope that you have enjoyed the glorious pages of this year's annual. I enjoyed putting the book together. However, I experienced one of the most prevalent problems here at Savannah State College - STUDENT APATHY. As you turned the pages, did you stop to think about the amount of time and effort that goes into the creation of OUR yearbook? Chances are some of you probably did not. You as S.S.C. students had better start thinking. The annual is supposed to be a STUDENT PUBLICATION. Student as in the student body not student as in individual (s) . Yet , the major- ity of the student body wants a yearbook and want it on time. In closing, I would like to say that you as students should get in- volved, because this could very well be OUR last yearbook. Very truly yours, Valerie M. Andrews Editor-in-Chief Editor's Message 158 Valerie M. Andrews Editor-In-Chis L59 ALMA MATER LET US GIVE THANKS AND PRAISE TO TH.EE TO OUR ALMA MATER, S.S.C.
