Beginning during the Great Depression, it became common for neighborhood theaters to screen a variety of programs that would consist of trailers, newsreels, cartoons, or short films, along with low-budget second features ("B movies") and then the high-budget main features ( "A" movies). This kind of programming was due in part to "block booking," where major Hollywood studios required theaters to buy lower-quality B-movies along with the more desirable A-movies. "Block booking" was deemed illegal in 1948 (in the Supreme Court case United States v. Paramount Pictures, Inc.), though the practice of providing multiple features in movie theatres continued well until the late 1960s.</dc:description><dc:language>eng</dc:language><dc:rights>http://rightsstatements.org/vocab/NoC-US/1.0/</dc:rights><dc:subject>Americus (Ga.)--History</dc:subject><dc:subject>Martin Theatre (Americus, Ga.)</dc:subject><dc:subject>Sunset Drive-In (Americus (Ga.)</dc:subject><dc:subject>Theaters--Georgia--Americus</dc:subject><dc:subject>Motion picture film--History</dc:subject><dc:subject>Animated films--History</dc:subject><dc:subject>Theater programs--Georgia--Americus</dc:subject><dc:subject>Battle Hymn (Motion picture : 1957)</dc:subject><dc:subject>The Women of Pitcairn Island (Motion picture : 1956)</dc:subject><dc:subject>Garden Gopher (Animated film : 1950)</dc:subject><dc:subject>Heir Restorer and Line of Screamage (Animated film : 1949)</dc:subject><dc:subject>Arts and Flowers (Animated film : 1956)</dc:subject><dc:subject>The Iron Petticoat (Motion picture : 1956)</dc:subject><dc:subject>Timetable (Motion picture : 1956)</dc:subject><dc:subject>Back Alley Uproar (Animated film : 1948)</dc:subject><dc:subject>Desk Set (Motion picture : 1957)</dc:subject><dc:subject>Punchy de Leon (Animated film : 1950)</dc:subject><dc:subject>The Lonely Man (Motion picture : 1957)</dc:subject><dc:subject>Chump Champ (Animated film : 1950)</dc:subject><dc:subject>Cinderella (Animated film : 1950)</dc:subject><dc:subject>Antiedote (Motion picture)</dc:subject><dc:subject>One Froggy Evening (Animated film : 1955)</dc:subject><dc:subject>Gun Brothers (Motion picture : 1956)</dc:subject><dc:subject>Jail Busters (Motion picture : 1955)</dc:subject><dc:subject>Blazing the Overland Trail (Motion picture : 1956)</dc:subject><dc:subject>Too Hop to Handle (Animated film : 1956)</dc:subject><dc:subject>Bernardine (Motion picture : 1957)</dc:subject><dc:subject>Gun Glory (Motion picture : 1957)</dc:subject><dc:title>Martin Theatre &amp; Sunset Drive-In program—week of July 7</dc:title><dc:type>Text</dc:type></oai_dc:dc>
