The city supports an active Main Street program, which revitalized the historic downtown and created new economic opportunity for Covington residents.This photograph shows the Newton County Courthouse located in Covington, Georgia. This courthouse was built in 1884 on the site of the previous courthouse. The building was designed in the Second Empire style by Bruce and Morgan, the most successful architectural firm in Georgia of its time. This multi-story brick structure features a domed clock tower with high arched windows.
