King at "King's Land," Merritt Island, Florida, dated August 2, 1950, to Mrs. Donald F. Martin in Flemington, Georgia. Discusses her love for Middleton Place and Magnolia Plantation. Notes reading in newspaper that Mrs. Martin's nephew, Marion Martin, had married Charlie Jones' daughter Kate, and that she (Kate) had charge of "a Museum at Midway" and that John Stevens' wife Martha was president of "something" and had raised a lot of money to buy the Mount Vernon Inn to be used as a museum. She asked, "And I wondered what was to be put in the Museum?" Noted that newspapers are known for misstatements; said man contacted her to ask if the story of her swimming across a river in South Carolina to copy tombstone inscriptions was true, which it was not. Also denies a rumor that a Miss Quarterman has been living with her. Speaks of being deathly ill with rheumatism.</dc:description><dc:format>image/jp2</dc:format><dc:language>eng</dc:language><dc:rights>http://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC-NC/1.0/</dc:rights><dc:subject>Martin family</dc:subject><dc:subject>Stevens family</dc:subject><dc:title>Letter from Julia R.
