Uncharacteristic of the times, this book lists the names of both young men and women. Notes from the Suwanee Creek chapter members of the Daughters of the American Revolution, who transcribed and indexed the record book emphasize that the church recorded and listed names of women in an era when women were not often legally recognized. The Epworth League is a prominent national Methodist youth organization founded in the late 1800s to train young people for church leadership, and to foster spiritual growth, fellowship, and Christian service. The organization was named after Epworth, England, the boyhood home of John Wesley, the founder of the Methodist movement. Level Creek United Methodist Church, located in Suwanee, Georgia, was founded in 1822, two years after the Land Lottery of 1820, and thirty-nine years before the Civil War. Transcriptions were created by the Suwanee Creek Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution.</dc:description><dc:format>image/jp2</dc:format><dc:language>eng</dc:language><dc:rights>http://rightsstatements.org/vocab/NoC-US/1.0/</dc:rights><dc:subject>Level Creek United Methodist Church (Suwanee, Ga.)</dc:subject><dc:subject>Suwanee (Ga.)--History</dc:subject><dc:subject>United Methodist Church (U.S.)--Georgia--Suwanee</dc:subject><dc:subject>Methodist Church--Georgia--Suwanee</dc:subject><dc:subject>Church records and registers--Georgia--Suwanee</dc:subject><dc:subject>Suwanee (Ga.)--History--19th century</dc:subject><dc:subject>Gwinnett County (Ga.)--History--19th century</dc:subject><dc:subject>Georgia--History--19th century</dc:subject><dc:subject>Suwanee (Ga.)--History--20th century</dc:subject><dc:subject>Gwinnett County (Ga.)--History--20th century</dc:subject><dc:subject>Georgia--History--20th century</dc:subject><dc:subject>Church membership--Georgia--Suwanee</dc:subject><dc:subject>Genealogy</dc:subject><dc:subject>United Methodist Church (U.S.)</dc:subject><dc:subject>Sunday schools--Georgia Suwanee</dc:subject><dc:subject>United Methodist Church (U.S.)--Church history</dc:subject><dc:subject>Level Creek United Methodist Church (Suwanee, Ga.)--History</dc:subject><dc:subject>Methodist Church--Membership</dc:subject><dc:title>Secretary Book of Level Creek, Epworth League, Quarterly Report, Officers and Teachers, 1898-1905 [Level Creek United Methodist Church Book 5]</dc:title><dc:type>Text</dc:type></oai_dc:dc>
