Dedication Dr. Joan Gordon, a professor emerita of the Department of Social and Behavioral Sciences, taught at Savannah State College for 42 years. She joined the SSC family during the Summer of 1928, and was diligent, well-trained professor up until her retirement in 1971. Dr. Gordon's tenure touched the lives of hundreds of graduates who still fondly look her up whenever they're in the city or visiting the campus. A graduate of Jackson State University, the University of Pennsylvania and Columbia University, Dr. Gordon spends a good deal of volunteer time on the campus where she actively supports the efforts of building the Savannah State College archival collection. The Tiger Yearbook Staff of 1993 salutes this great Legend in the history of our beloved ALMA MATER. 16 17 ACTING PRESIDENT ALL IN A DAY'S WORK Dr. Annette K. Brock Acting President 18 \ltmG>L\THElA ^2 Someone once said, "College days are the best days of one's life. At Savannah State Col- lege, that statement is more often true than not. Friendships are made, lives are enriched, learning is the order the day, and lifelong re- lationships are cemented. For many students, college is that unfor- gettable milestone in life from which all else springs. Careers are born, intellects are nour- ished, and ideas and values are allowed to grow and develop. When one takes into account all that he has managed to pack into four or five short years, it is no wonder that expression reverberates even louder . . . "College days are the best days". With happy days we've known. In Spring I'll wait for roses red, When fades the lilac blue, In early Fall, when brown leaves call I'll catch a glimpse of you. Should you go first and I remain For battles to be fought, Each thing you've touched along the way Will be a hallowed spot. I'll hear your voice, I'll see your smile Though blindly I may grope, The memory of your helping hand Will buoy on with hope . . . Should you go first and I remain One thing I'd have you do Walk slowly down that long, lone path For soon I'll follow you. I'll want to know each step you take That I may walk the same, For some day down that lonely road You'll hear me call your name. 105 SENIORS CLASS OF 1993 SENIORS 106 Majadi Abdullah Tatia Adams Glenn Allen Teresa Austin 107 Miller Bargeron, Jr. Lorene Benton Sharon Bond Stephanie Brazzle 108 Michael Brien Tonya Brockington Ronnie Brown Shannon Brown 109 Kareen Bryant Erlena Carroll Sesame Cotton Tia Curry 110 Tiffany Cutler Martin Daniels Craig Daughtry William Davis, Jr. in David Dicks Candice Ellis Danielle Ellison 112 Damon Elmore Caroline Everson Jessica Fambro Schane Fleming 113 Petrina Ford Bernard Francis Robert German Aleisa Gibson 114 Rhonda Gordon Amy Graham Simone Green Tony Grubbs 115 Maronda Hastie Kimberlynn Hendricks Sonja Hill Kimberly Hinkins 116 Detra Howard Derrick Jenkins Dwayne Jenkins Eugene Johnson 117 Mia Johnson Carlton Jones Sesly Jones Azabba Kereenyaga , 118 Lorna Linen Shannon Lindsey Renita Lipscomb Keva Mackey 119 Terry Manigault Lloydette Martin Serena McCoy Sametria Renee McFall 120 Ronald McGee Robert McGhee Adriunne Mcintosh Melissa Mcintosh 121 Sandra Merritt Persephanie Miller Theresa Miller Zenobia Mitchell 122 Able Moore Emma Moore KaWondra Moore Venus Moore 123 Emily Morall Rose Murray Tannis Nelson Iona Newton 124 Monica Oglesby Titilayo Onashile Tracy Parker Sylvestine Payne 125 Davida Pierce Jewelstine Pinkston Chandra Porter Mari Rice 126 Timeko Richards Valencia Richardson Rhonda Robinson Dorothy Sanders 127 Monica Scales Rose Simmons 128 Shea Stephens Cynthia Stewart Gabrielle Taylor John Thomas 129 . m wM HHL tStf*H. i? 9 (fjpj p''"^" >^p ' - ^H _ 3 ~ f -' ^*^M^^jf' '^ w ^m i) v. * * Valencia Thomas Deanna Thurmond Janese Turnquest Jamise Waldburg 130 Cassandra Walden Henry Washington Eric Waters Tia Wilborn 131 Ravon Wilkes Angela Williams Bridgette Williams Carolyn Williams 132 Crystal Williams JaQuita Williams Lianna Dawn Williams Lenetta Woods 133 Troy Wright Andrew Young 134 CONGRATULATIONS SENIORS! 135 THEY'VE GOT THAT 1 Front Row, Tiffanny Cutler; Second Row, (1 to r) Teresa Austin; Natussha Williams; Shawanda Williams Back Row, (1 to r), Lisa Davis; Devonah James; Rhonda Moore; Demetria Harris; Tomika Boykins Teresa Austin, Captain Lisa Davis, Co-Captain 136 TIGER SPIRIT!!! mt mtm > - m &U II Demetria Harris Devorah James Tomika Boykins Rhonda Moore ^ Tiffany Cutler 137 (Left) Natussha Williams (Below) Shawanda Williams Edward Denson SSC cheerleaders drum up community support at Hyundai Motors. # SI" 5 " JUNIOR To '] Top Row Mrs. Jackie Dickerson, Class Advisor; Derrick Seymore, Stephen Gill, Sonya McKenny, Lisa Davis (Miss Junior) and Eric Bush, President. 139 140 -.%** FACULTY AND STAFF CANDIDS RUB 141 142 143 1 ' ! Whew-w-w!!! That's finally over. No one really knows what a tremendous task it is putting a yearbook together from start to finish. No one that is but the person who ends up doing the task, virtually all alone. As I reflect on the beginnings of the 1992-93 Tiger Yearbook, I remember the feelings of "Do you really want to do this again?" After all, it was yours truly who had to almost single- handedly complete the Yearbook from the previous year. But, this was my SENIOR YEAR, and I would not let dear ole SSC down. So I buckled down with a small, but not so dedicated staff and the tackled the job ahead. Things were going pretty good until we got to the Winter quarter, and my overload and work schedule got the best of me. I managed to get through two-thirds of the publication, and thanks to Mrs. Adams in the Public Relations office, the other third was completed finally. My parting words are to each of you the students still enrolled at SSC. Get involved with the Yearbook staff. It's your recorded reflections of some very precious college days. They belong to you and so does this Tiger yearbook. Sincerely, Sametria McFall Editor 9
