Photograph taken of one of the oldest homes in Gainesville. Located on West Broad Street and constructed by Hervey Hall prior to the Civil War, it was later used as a boarding house and then as the sheriff's residence and jail. The home was bought by Hubert Vickers in 1933. Vickers was moving his funeral home into the house when the April 6, 1936 tornado struck, knocking off the chimneys. It was still being used by Strickland's Funeral Home in 1982.</dc:description><dc:description>Caption: "Hall County Library Photo Collection (0410) Gainesville, Georgia."</dc:description><dc:description>Digitized by: Digital Techniques, Inc.</dc:description><dc:description>Electronic version made available through a federal Library Services and Technology Act Grant and Georgia Public Library Services.</dc:description><dc:format>image/jpeg</dc:format><dc:rights>http://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/</dc:rights><dc:source>Forms part of: Hall County, Georgia historical photograph collection.</dc:source><dc:subject>Dwellings--Georgia--Gainesville</dc:subject><dc:subject>Hall, Hervey--Homes and haunts</dc:subject><dc:subject>Vickers, Hubert--Homes and haunts</dc:subject><dc:title>Hervey Hall's home</dc:title><dc:type>StillImage</dc:type></oai_dc:dc>
