He discusses his role in abolishing student government. Teper recalls leaving UGA his senior year to lobby for energy and environmental issues in 1980. He discusses meeting politicians at Manuel's Tavern and declaring his willingness to lobby in the general assembly. Teper recalls meeting Billy Lovett and Judy Barrow. He later worked on both of their campaigns. Teper discusses running for State Senate in 1988. He recalls hiring Bernard Cox and Jim Koonan to run his campaign and reflects on his campaign strategies. Teper comments on representing an ethnically diverse district and reflects on his own poiltical philosophy. Teper reflets on being part of the "Four Horseman" which included McCracken Poston, Ron Fennel, and Ray Holland. The group also occasionally included Curtis Jenkins. He reflects on Tom Murphy's mentorship of the Horsemen. Teper recalls this committee assignments and how he used his assignments to advance his political goals. He discusses a particular bill regarding "retail divorcement" relating to gas retail prices. Teper reflects on the exorbitant lobbying efforts regarding that bill and how the situation led to the Holland Manifesto and to the creation of the Ethics Committee. He discusses several bills that he sponsored including legislation regarding the death penalty, transit, and water reservoirs. Teper discusses redistricting, his run for Congress, and his life after politics. He was elected to the Georgia State House of Representatives in 1988 and served through 2005. He served on the Industry, Judiciary, and Rules Committees. Teper has been involved in numerous community and civic groups, including the Atlanta Jewish Federation Community Relations Commissions.
