Etheridge recalls running his first race for the State House of Representatives with the help of Ivan Allen. He recalls his time in the capitol, including his goals of gaining a louder voice for Atlanta issues and the unconstitutional nature of the county unit system. Etheridge recalls the Julian Bond incident, and the rise of convention hotels, and MARTA.</dc:description><dc:description>Jack Etheridge attended Davidson College and Emory Law school berfore serving as a law clerk for a State Superior Court Judge and Federal District Court Judge. He became an associate with Smith, Kilpatrick, Cody, Rogers &amp; McClatchy (now Kilpatrick &amp; Stockton) and later spent ten years as partner with Huie, Etheridge, and Harland. Etheridge served as a State Representative in the General Assembly from 1992 through 1996 and served as the Chairman of the Fulton County Delegation. In 1966 Etheridge became a Superior Court Judge until 1977, when he assumed position as Senior Judge of Georgia State Superior Courts.</dc:description><dc:description>Finding aid available in repository.</dc:description><dc:description>Part 2: Etheridge discusses serving as the president of the Atlanta Bar Association in 1965 and subsequently being appointed to a judgeship by Carl Sanders. He discusses the bussing of criminals to courthouses and the introduction of cameras into courtrooms to enable media coverage of legal proceedings. Upon leaving the judgeship, Etheridge recalls working at the University of South Carolina in a criminal justice program before returning to Atlanta to teach at Emory.
