He addresses his work with Ellis Arnall's 1966 gubernatorial campaign, Lester Maddox's campaign for governor, Maddox's 1970 bid for lieutenant governor, as well as the campaigns of Bill Stuckey and Sam Nunn.Ned B. Young was born in Bakersville, North Carolina, in 1934. He attended the University of Tennessee in Chattanooga. He moved to St. Simons, Georgia, in 1954, where he worked for Delta Airlines. He first became active in politics when he joined the Georgia Jaycees--he would become president of the organization and national director of the U.S. Jaycees. He worked for Ellis Arnall's gubernatorial campaign in 1966, and after Arnall's loss in the Democratic primary, Young joined Lester Maddox's gubernatorial campaign. He continued to support Maddox in his successful bid for lieutenant governor in 1970, and worked as a campaign advisor for Bill Stuckey and Sam Nunn. Young continued to live in St. Simons, and was the owner and operator of the Bowlarena in Brunswick for many years. He also owned Professional Corrections Services in Savannah.
