ATFA ANNUAL MEETING - APRIL 20, 1994

The Annual Meeting of ATFA Directors was held on Wednesday, April 20,
1994, at the Holiday Inn in Valdosta, Georgia. It began at 10:00 A.M.
with a program planned for invited guests, including:

President Jim L. Gillis, Jr. called the meeting to order with a welcome
and introduction of those attending.

Several important matters were discussed with the full group, including

a report on the preservation of ATFA records and artifacts by John Johnson
and Andy Wright, who replaced Jane Shepherd as Curator of Agrirama. It was
explained that they had received a $50,000 grant and plans were to build

an Exhibit Building to better house and present not only ATFA's contributions
but others as well.

Alan Hodges presented a report on his research work relative to the bottle
collection system. Alan is an Economic Analyst with the University of
Florida.

Mr. Feltham spoke to the meeting explaining that Akzo would definitely be
in business in 1995 and would even increase the price of gum by $5.00 for
high grades. The foresters present (Grady, Wesley, Ed) explained the 1994
Naval Stores Conservation Program, which remains the same as the last few
years with respect to rates and practices. Mr. Gillis then recognized

gum buyers and tool manufacturer (Mr. and Mrs. Grimsley). In that regard,
Grady reported that we probably have 200 pounds of new nails and about

800 pounds of nails to be cut off; also that double-headed nails are being
re-used. He does not foresee a shortage of nails in the near future.

Following lunch, the Directors present held the business meeting. Mr. Carter
presented the report of the ballot committee. There were no votes cast in
either District 2 (Florida) or District 3 (Alabama/Mississippi). Mr. Tilton
of Florida had called in his resignation stating that he would have no
further production and would be ineligible to serve as Director. There

were no votes cast in Georgia's sub-district 3, previously represented

by Mr. K. D. Vickers who died in NOvember, 1993. He has not been replaced
on the Board. President Gillis and Travis Cook were the only Directors

in attendance, Mr. Powell having recently suffered a stroke and in serious
condition. For this reason, Mr. Cook was appointed to serve as First Vice
President.

The Association's finances were discussed and in line with that the
Secretary's salary was reduced to $10,000 annually, beginning July, 1994.
The President had instructed previously that his salary be discontinued.
However, it was agreed that there would be discussion later with respect
to the ATFA Calendar.

There being no further business and realizing that a quorum was not
present, the meeting was adjourned.

SPECIAL MEETING - AUGUST 17, 1994

President Jim L. Gillis, Jr. called a special meeting of crtain ATFA
personnel, including Travis Cook, Grady Williams, Alton Carter and the
Scretary convening at the Holiday Inn on August 17, 1994,

The meeting was called primarily to discuss the situation with Vice
President and Director Lloyd L. Powell, who has not been able to
resume his dutis as a Director due to halth rasons and as a rsult
has discontinued his gum farming operation. President Gillis with
the approval of Mr. Cook, appointed Alton J. Carter to replace

Mr. Powll on th Board.

With rgard to Mr. Vickr's sub-district, it was agred that it would
remain vacant at this time due to the very small number of producers in
the district. Should the situation change, a director could be
appointed at a later date.

Grady Williams discussed the availability of double-haded nails --
he is cutting off longer nails at a cost of $1.00 pr pound, and is
also considering aluminum nails, not double-headed but so soft can
stay in the tree with no problem to sawmill equipment.

It was notd that several pilot projects with bags are ongoing with a lot

of potntial, the only problem according to Mr. Feltham of Akzo being
emptying them.

The Secretary was instaructd to contact the calendar company and gt a
quote on smaller amounts of calendars and to so notify the Presidnt.
Th meeting concluded with lunch at the rstaurant.
