For & in consideration of the sum of Two 
Thousand and five dollars, the same being the 
highest sum bid for them at public outcry 
duly advertised as the property of John P. 
Barnett deceased and for which payment has been made 
I do hereby as the administrator of said 
deceased sell & convey to William W. Simpson the following 
negroes, to wit: Manda aged 24 years. 
Lum [?] aged 8 years, Ellen aged 6 years, July aged 
4 years, Tilda aged 2 years, and Anthony an 
infant, and do warrant & defend the titles 
to said negroes so far as I am bound as 
Administrator of said dec'd & no farther
