Know all men by these presents that we 
J. D. & J. S. Glass of the state of North Carolina and 
County of Caswell, have this day sold unto Ross 
Crane of the state of Georgia and County of 
Clarke a certain Negro Girl Named Catherine 
aged about ten years Old of Yellow Complection 
for & in consideration of six Hundred Dollars 
to us in hand paid. The wright whereof is here 
acknowledged, which said Negro Girl we warrant 
to be sound in body and mind and a slave for 
Ever. The title good and free from the Claim 
of all persons whatsoever which we warrant 
and bind ourselves to defend unto the said Ross 
Crane his heirs and assigns for ever in witness 
where of we have here unto set our hands 
and Seals this 11th day of [December] 1850
