[Bill of sale -- from Richard Hammock to John Hammond, including enslaved persons] [001] Recd on the twenty Seventh day of Sept Eighteen hundred and Eight, the within mentioned Negroe woman and Child from the within John Hammon [Hammond] it being the Consideration within Mentioned [signed] Samuel Brooks, J. P. [signed] Richard Hammon [Hammond] Wilkes County to wit. On the twenty seventh day of September Eighteen hundred and Eight personally appeared before me the subscriber one of the Justices of the peace for the within Named County, the above mentioned Richard Hammock party to the within Bill of Sale and did acknowledge the same to be his act and Deed and the Negroe Man Merrick therein Mentioned to be the Right and property of the within named John Hammon [Hammond] his heirs Executors Administrators and Assigns forever to his and their Sole and proper use and uses forever, to no other use intent or purpose whatever in Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand this day and year above written [signed] Sam Brooks, J. [002] Know all Men by these presents that I Richard Hammock of Wilkes County State of Georgia, for and in Consideration of the Sum of five Shillings Current money of Georgia, and the further Consideration of One Negroe woman named Sarah with one of her Girl Children named Henney to me in hand paid by John Hammon [Hammond] of the County and State [aforementioned] at and before the Sealing and Delivery of these presents the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, have Granted, bargained and told and by these presents do Grant bargain and Sell unto the said John Hammon [Hammond] his heirs Executors, Administrators or Assigns, one Negroe Man Named Merrich, To have and to hold the said Negroe Man Merrick to the Said John Hammon [Hammond] his heirs Executors Administrators, and Assigns to his and their Sole use and proper use and uses forever and to no other use intent or purpose whatever in Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this 27th day of September One thousand Eight hundred and Eight [signed] Sam Brooks, J.
