The log includes handwritten notes, technical information, Atlanta Journal clippings of program listings, and transcriptions of radio "conversations" between engineers at WSB and ham radio operators. Programs include the Griffith Quintet and Chickie and Jackie. WSB ("Welcome South, Brother") Radio, the first radio station to broadcast in the city of Atlanta, was born on March 15, 1922, when it went on the air for the first time at a power of 100 watts. The station was originally owned by The Atlanta Journal and broadcast from a makeshift studio on the fifth floor of The Journal building on Forsyth Street in downtown Atlanta. In 1925 the station moved to more spacious quarters on the top floor of the Biltmore Hotel, where it remained for the next thirty years. Both The Journal and WSB were purchased by Governor James M. Cox of Ohio in 1939; WSB is still a property of Cox Broadcasting Corporation, which was formed when Cox operations reorganized in 1964. Hailed as the "Voice of the South," WSB Radio was an innovative pioneer in radio.</dc:description><dc:format>application/pdf</dc:format><dc:language>eng</dc:language><dc:publisher>WSB Radio Records, 1922-1985, [bulk 1960-1980]</dc:publisher><dc:rights>https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0/</dc:rights><dc:subject>Radio and music--Georgia--Atlanta</dc:subject><dc:subject>Weather broadcasting--Georgia--Atlanta</dc:subject><dc:subject>Sports journalism--Georgia--Atlanta</dc:subject><dc:subject>Radio broadcasting--Georgia--Atlanta</dc:subject><dc:subject>Atlanta journal-constitution</dc:subject><dc:subject>Presbyterian Church--Atlanta--Georgia</dc:subject><dc:subject>Sermons--Georgia--Atlanta</dc:subject><dc:subject>Gospel music--Georgia--Atlanta</dc:subject><dc:subject>Commodity exchanges</dc:subject><dc:subject>Cotton trade</dc:subject><dc:subject>Grain trade</dc:subject><dc:subject>Acoustical engineering--History</dc:subject><dc:subject>Radio--history</dc:subject><dc:subject>Radio advertising--Georgia--Atlanta</dc:subject><dc:subject>Musicians--Georgia</dc:subject><dc:subject>Singers--Georgia</dc:subject><dc:subject>Bands (Music)--Georgia</dc:subject><dc:subject>Amateur radio stations</dc:subject><dc:subject>American Legion Band</dc:subject><dc:subject>Emory University</dc:subject><dc:subject>University of Georgia--Musical groups</dc:subject><dc:subject>Baptists</dc:subject><dc:subject>Glee clubs</dc:subject><dc:subject>Pullman porters</dc:subject><dc:subject>Glee clubs--Conyers (Ga.)</dc:subject><dc:subject>Georgia Military College--Musical groups</dc:subject><dc:subject>Georgia Press Association</dc:subject><dc:subject>Georgia Institute of Technology--Football</dc:subject><dc:subject>University of Georgia--Football</dc:subject><dc:subject>Georgia Institute of Technology</dc:subject><dc:subject>University of Georgia</dc:subject><dc:subject>Auburn University--Football</dc:subject><dc:subject>Atlanta Symphony Orchestra</dc:subject><dc:subject>Blue Ridge Mountain Entertainers (Musical group : Clarence Ashley)</dc:subject><dc:subject>Corporate sponsorship</dc:subject><dc:subject>Georgia--Politics and government--1865-1950</dc:subject><dc:subject>WSB (Radio station: Atlanta, Ga.)</dc:subject><dc:title>WSB Program logs, 1925</dc:title><dc:type>Text</dc:type></oai_dc:dc>
