She grew up in Doraville, Ga. Her family moved to Doraville in 1960; they were one of the first Asian families to live in the area. Corbett has lived in Doraville most of her life. She has a daughter and works as a realtor.In this interview, Susie Corbett describes her experiences growing up as a member of one of the first Asian-American families in Doraville, Ga. She talks about racist treatment she received from her peers and members of her community, and describes the isolation and otherness she felt as a child and a teenager. Corbett describes her parents' experiences being placed into internment camps during World War II and of working hard to succeed after immigrating to the United States.
