McIntire then talks about a later occasion, during World War II, when as a young man he spent the Christmas holidays with the Mercers in Hollywood. He also includes other anecdotes about visits to Johnny Mercer in New York during the premiere of Saratoga, the wedding of Mercer's cousin Walter Rivers to McIntire's sister Cornelia, and the Mercers' visits to Savannah. In the course of the conversation, McIntire reflects briefly on the character and personality of both Johnny and Ginger Mercer. Works by Mercer that are mentioned include, among others, Saratoga, "I'm An Old Cowhand" and "Accentuate the Positive."</dc:description><dc:description>Pope Barrow McIntire was born in Savannah, Georgia, on October 7, 1924, the youngest of six children of Frances Percival McIntire and Lucy Barrow McIntire.
