He graduated from Harvard College and Harvard Medical School. He was a resident at Bronx University Medical Center and Lincoln Medical and Mental Health Center. He has been a general medical internist in Atlanta since 1973, and served in the Epidemiology Intelligence Service at the U.S. Center for Disease Control. He was a professor at Emory University School of Medicine and worked with Grady Hospital to establish neighborhood health centers. Today his work includes research as a chronic-disease epidemiologist.In this interview, Kahn covers much of his early life as a young Jewish boy in postwar New York City.
