Before Uga I in 1955, the University of Georgia was represented officially by two bulldogs, Mike (1951-1955) and his predecessor, Butch, who served from 1947 to 1950. Butch was a brindled English bulldog owned by Mabry Smith of Warner Robins, Ga. Smith agreed to loan Butch to the University during the football season.
