He was selected from five candidates recommended jointly by the yearbook editor, senior members of the yearbook staff, and the Student Government Association president. He received this award primarily because of his ability to relate to students both inside and outside of the classroom. He is very interesting, a lot of fun, and very inspiring. It is the second honor awarded to Dr. Hornsby during the academic year. Last fall he received the Grayson M. Bradley Award in recognition for outstanding service. The annual award is made by members of the LaGrange College faculty to the faculty member who has demonstrated outstanding service both to the school, its students, faculty and administration. Dr. Hornsby has been a member of the LaGrange College faculty since 1966. He received a doctorate degree in English Literature from Auburn University (1972) and earned his Bachelor of Science in Education (1963) and master's (1965) from the University of Georgia. A scholar of 17th Century literature, Dr. Hornsby was awarded a fellowship for special study last summer (1976) at Brown University, Providence, R.I. He has done additional graduate work at the Institute of Victorian Studies at the University of London in England and was awarded a fellowship in 1974 for post doctoral studies at the Southeastern Institute of Medieval and Renaissance Studies at Duke University. He is a member of the Amici Thomae Mori, the Bibliographical Society, the Milton Society ipT America, the Renaissance Society of America, and the South Atlantic Modern Language Association. Dr. Hornsby has published articles and reviews in "Style," the "Bible Translator," "English Studies," the "Renaissance Quarterly," and the "Southern Humanities Review." 206 209 213 shoot it w serve it - pass it<> belt it 9 splash it t whack it . slap it # dunk it & bounce it freeze it "spin it # cream it chop it V wet it t dribble it lob it - hit it ace it loft it J hang it z clobber it # bang it # center it
