Many a yard of fabric has come from the looms since WestPoint Pepperell had its beginning in the 1800*s---fabric for covered wagons, tents, airplanes, clipper ships, blimps, and even space craft. Textiles carried a heavy load in the early days of our country, and they are basic in today's complex world. Fabric is needed for thousands of end uses and WestPoint Pepperell supplies fabric for most of them. Many of our fabrics are used by other companies in making their own products. These we develop and engineer for specific needs. Today's textile industry is virtually a universe of diversification. Whatever the fabric need WestPoint Pepperell is ready and willing to tackle the challenge---producing better fabrics for a better tomorrow. WestPoint Pepperell Corporate Headquarters West Point, Georgia WANT TO JOIN OUR TEAM? Opportunities are waiting for you in textiles. If you are considering joining this exciting field, join a leader. WestPoint Pepperell is a growing company, a good citizen, and a good employer. 1976 Quadrangle Dedication April 30, 1976 The Seniors of LaGrange College have chosen to dedicate the 1976 QUADRANGLE to a well- deserving professor. He is open, friendly and help- ful to all students in or out of the classroom. As well as an educator, he is a Methodist minister who founded the church at Tybee Island , Georgia . He is said to be extremely animated in the class- room, and his hobbies include classical music, counseling , and writing character sketches . He was born in Martinsville, Virginia, and came to LaGrange in 1971 as the Fuller E. Calla- way Professor of Psychology. When asked why the college appealed to him, he replied it was because of its emphasis on full-time teaching of quality. This professor rightly said of himself, "I have always been able to get the best from the stu- dent when I have expected it . " In his philosophy on education, he stated, "Once a student is admitted to a campus, I feel it the obligation of the school to take the diamond in the rough he may be and surround him with tools he may use to bring about his own polished brilliance. " Dr. Rob- ert Preston Price most assuredly provides the stu- dents of LaGrange College with the tools to per- form this feat. IN MEMORIAM Maidee Strickland j EPILOG 23 234 236 237 238 239 As this has been the bicentennial year, the 1976 QUAD- RANGLE staff has attempted to take a look back into the his- tory of LaGrange College as well as to record the events of the past year. We hope you will appreciate this rich history and recognize the role it plays in our lives today. My thanks go to the photographers, staff members, and our representative for the many hours they have put into this book. There have been many frustrations, but we are proud to present this yearbook and hope you share our pride . ltd V BUSINESS MANAGER - Mark Sprayberry PHOTOGRAPHERS - Brian Page, Sullins Benson, Jay Duke STUDENT LIFE - Patty Cagle ORGANIZATIONS - Retha Beard , Mary Branch SENIORS - Nanci Nix, Debra Naglee, Nancy Rosser UNDERCLASS - Penny Craig, Alex Bordeaux, Libby Slife, Mary Sanger FACULTY - Don Stone GREEKS - Merri Herbert
