We are your flowers.

Your smile is the sunhine on which we thrive.
Your understanding is the tender cure

which helps us over the rough spots.
Your teaching is the watering

without which we could not progress.
Your seriousness of purpose for life is the sky

toward which we look.

REMEMBER RflT DAY?

Organizations

The many organizations on "the hill"
enable each student to pursue his in-
terests. Through stage productions, mu-
sical programs, and religious activities,
the students have an opportunity to share
with others the things that they have
learned.

E QUADRANGLE

To all those who have been helpful in the
publishing of the 1954 Quadrangle, the Quad-
rangle staff wishes to express its sincere ap-
preciation. The staff wishes to express its
thanks to Miss Kate Howard Cross, the able
adviser; to "Fat" Johnson, the dependable
annual photographer; to Mr. Johnny Long
for his assistance ; and to Dr. Waights Henry,
who furnished encouragement and inspira-
tion.

It is the wish of the staff that the 1954
Quadrangle will serve as an adequate diary
to keep these years in the memory of the
LaGrange College students.

The Young Women's Christian Association
is a religious organization of which every
woman student on the "Hill" is a member.
We have a cabinet composed of twenty-one
members of the student body and one faculty
advisor.

Through the "Y", we try to enrich the
spiritual lives of the students on the campus.
Each night we have vespers after supper and
meditations from 10:15 to 10:30 in the Little

Chapel.

We have adopted a little French girl, Nel-
lie, whom we support. Also we contribute
yearly to the world University Service and
CARE. Through these activities, every stu-
dent is made aware of the great need in the
world.

"We unite in the desire to realize a full
and creative life through a growing knowl-
edge of God."

The dramatic season for the Curtain Raisers
of 1954 opened in October with Smilin' Through.
Mattie Perkerson played the haunting role of
the murdered bride who comes back, Michael
Brown the bereaved bridegroom, Sarah Ann
Maxwell and Ted Caldwell the young lovers, and
Sam Baker the old doctor.

In November Barter Theater presented the
play, George and Margaret, in LaGrange. A
reception was held in the college parlors, honor-
ing the three LaGrange College members of
the cast, Thomas McKeehan, Blanche McKin-
ney, and Kenneth Brumbeloe. Dorothy Jackson,
Mattie Perkerson, and Ted Caldwell were ac-
cepted for summer work at Barter.

In December Happiest Years was presented.
Peggy Smith played the leading role.

In February Dorothy Jackson, Mary E.
Moore, and Grady Gower, Jr., starred in Member
of the Wedding, written by Carson McCullers
from Columbus.

March 12 brought an evening of one-act plays
presented by the younger members of the Cur-
tain Raisers.

On April 9 Molnar's Liliom was presented.
The title role was played by Ted Caldwell.

On May 6 Pygmalion was presented, starring
Michael Brown and Mattie Perkerson.

The year ended with the senior play, The
Willow and I, done in arena staging. The star
was Sarah Ann Maxwell. Supporting her were
Mattie Perkerson and Ted Caldwell.

The Scroll is the literary magazine of
the college. Students submit short stories,
essays, poems, and reviews, the best of
which are chosen for publication.

At the end of the year several students,
never more than four in number, are se-
lected to be on the Scroll of Fame. Chosen
for their outstanding contributions, these
students are honored by having their pic-
tures framed and hung in the English
room.
