Brown Gary W. Burns Making lifetinne friends is an important part of tlie college experience and for sociology majors Mary Louise Capers, Sandra Parson, and Elizabeth Hag- len, they have found just that type of friendship in each other. When asked what they liked best about A.C. they replied: "Recently, what we have enjoyed most is the lake front property at Clark Hill. Every Friday, we drive up to the lake to get away from the pressures of school. It revives us especially the beer we drink. It would be nice to see more students and faculty at the lake they do not know what they are missing. But the best things has been the wonderful friends we have made at Augusta College." Daniel J. A.C. has been a Peabody Family tradition for three genera- tions." Patti, a member of ZTA, feels that her sorority has enriched her college life by providing her a sup- port group and lifetime friends. Patti, with her dedica- tion to A.C, it is no wonder that she is also a member of the student government and in this year's Who's Who. Ellen Kloss Linda Lacot Gerald McCoy Susan McDowell Stevi McKnight Kay McNally Paula McPherson Seniors 47 Senior biology major Doug Johnson for the past year has been president of the Student Government Asso- ciation. Reflecting bacl< on his college experience, Doug states: "The four years that I have spent at A.C. have been the most enjoyable and rewarding years of my life. I have enjoyed both the academic activities and the extracurricular activities. This year I have had the privilege of serving as the president of the Student Government. This involvement has enabled me to work with a wide variety of people. I am grateful to A.C. for giving me the opportunity to make a lot of friends and gain a well-.-ounded education." Jim has been at A.C. on and off for about 13 years. He has earned a degree in Psychology and Education and is taking writing courses currently. Jim often contributes to the Bell Ringer and through his delightful article the whole campus has come to know him and his family. Jim believes A.C. is a fabulous college and that one does not have to be working on a degree to go to college; people can learn just for the education. He holds that A.C. can give a person a good education in just about any field that a person would want. Joy says: "Do you recall your very first day as a college student? Everyone could distinctly categorize you as a freshman because you were con- stantly referring to your registration form and campus map. Being a transfer student, I dreaded that I would be categorized as a freshman for a second time. Fortunately, thanks to the layout of the A.C. campus, the orientation, and the assistance of fellow students, I never had to use my campus map." Stevi compares the two schools by recalling: "At U.K. the faculty never knew anyone's name, you were just your social security number, and the campus was so large that you had to ride a bus from class to class. A.C. has been like a breath of fresh air, everyone is important here and the campus is compact enought to be able to walk from class to class, and besides I much prefer 'Stevi' to 8042!"
