Members of the Choir sold candy and cut a record, "Voices From White Columns". This year the Choir went on tour to Washington, D. C. giving several performances on the way. This year for the first time the "White Columns" is the regular college length in size 9x12. In September the editor and business manager attended a work shop for college annual staff at Emory University, Atlanta, Georgia. Young Republicans The Young Republicans of Augusta College made their mark at AC and the surrounding area this year during the presidential election. They sponsored, along with the Young Democrats, a series of political debates fea- turing local Republican and Democrat candidates. There was a mock election held in the student center in November. We had quite a few outstanding players to carry the school colors. Bill Domen broke school record with 44 points. He also was named to conference All-Star Team. Another outstanding player was Andy Schwitter who was selected by his teammates as most valuable player for Augusta College. Holly Shurtleff inspires not only fans but the team itself. Coach Vanover has added nine new opponents to play in the 1965-66 season. We now have a 24 game schedule. With holiday spirit in the air Augusta College, College of Charleston, St. Andrews and Piedmont put on one of the finest tourneys seen in this area. Due to excellent planning by Coach Vanover Augusta College will stage this tournament as an annual event for Christmas holidays. it appeared that Augusta College was a sure favor in the tournament after soundly beating St. Andrews 81-71 but disaster struck in the finals against Piedmont. By losing 72-54 to Piedmont, Augusta College had to settle for 2nd place. It should be mentioned that Piedmont and College of Charleston are four-year colleges. Jaguar Goes on to National John Perry won the Region Six singles chann- pionship in the Association of College Unions bowling tournannent held on the campus of Florida State University at Tallahassee. The 21 -year-old pro-nned Hnajor copped the crown by putting together games of 1 79, 202 and 220 for a 601 series after qualifying for the final round by dropping 1620 pins for a 180 average through nine previous games. The victory earned Perry a trip to Minneapolis, Minnesota for the national finals. Perry finished 25th among a field of 75 of the nation's top college bowling stars competing for the National Intercollegiate Bowling Championship. Perry rolled sets of 520, 548 and 548 for an overall total of 1616 in his quest for the all-events title. He ranks 22nd nationally in singles, eighth in doubles, and was a member of the team which finished 15th for tournament.
