The hotel burned in a fire in 1946 that killed 119 people. The fire prompted immediate changes to building and fire codes. The building re-opened in the 1950's as the Peachtree On Peachtree Hotel. In 2007 the building was reopened as the Hotel Ellis.</dc:description><dc:description>This work is filed as an image collected by Kenneth Rogers, the photographer is Marion Johnson.</dc:description><dc:format>image/jpeg</dc:format><dc:identifier>VIS 82.499.01</dc:identifier><dc:identifier>ahc082499001a.jpg</dc:identifier><dc:rights>http://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/</dc:rights><dc:source>Kenneth Rogers Photographs, Atlanta History Center</dc:source><dc:subject>Hotels--Georgia--Atlanta</dc:subject><dc:subject>Disasters--Georgia--Atlanta</dc:subject><dc:subject>Fires--Georgia--Atlanta</dc:subject><dc:subject>Fire fighters--Georgia--Atlanta</dc:subject><dc:subject>Fire fighting--Georgia--Atlanta</dc:subject><dc:subject>Firefighting equipment--Georgia--Atlanta</dc:subject><dc:subject>Equipment</dc:subject><dc:subject>Water use--Georgia--Atlanta</dc:subject><dc:subject>Winecoff Hotel (Atlanta, Ga.)</dc:subject><dc:subject>Ellis Hotel (Atlanta, Ga.)</dc:subject><dc:title>Winecoff Hotel Fire</dc:title><dc:type>StillImage</dc:type></oai_dc:dc>
