Description:
Jim Torbert served as a captain in the 281st Assault Helicopter Company in the Vietnam War. While participating in a Special Forces team insertion into the area of operations, a Bell UH-1 (known as the "Huey") received tail rotor damage. In this interview, Torbert describes inspecting the helicopter under fire and then flying the damaged aircraft back to base.
