Due to high winds the fire quickly moved to the buildings on the south side of Mitchell Street. The damage by the fire was bounded by Nelson Street, Forsyth Street, Madison Avenue, and Mitchell Street. Forty two businesses were destroyed, and an additional 25 were severely damaged. Losses were totaled at 1,250,000 dollars making it the most destructive fire in Atlanta up to that date.</dc:description><dc:format>image/jpeg</dc:format><dc:publisher>Steve B.
