Brown (1851-1932) was a railroad administrator, banker, and Democratic politician from Georgia. Early in his career, he worked as a traffic manager for the Western and Atlantic Railroad. From 1904 to 1907, Brown served on the Georgia State Railroad Commission. In 1908, he was elected Governor of Georgia. He lost the subsequent election to Hoke Smith, but was again elected Governor in 1912 when Smith vacated his position to fill a Senate seat left by Alexander Clay. After he left politics, Brown became the director and vice-president of the First National Bank of Marietta.</dc:description><dc:format>image/jpeg</dc:format><dc:identifier>VIS 170.3206.001</dc:identifier><dc:identifier>ahc1703206001.jpg</dc:identifier><dc:publisher>Atlanta, Ga. : Kenan Research Center</dc:publisher><dc:rights>http://rightsstatements.org/vocab/NoC-US/1.0/</dc:rights><dc:source>Atlanta History Photograph Collection</dc:source><dc:subject>Dinner parties--Georgia--Atlanta</dc:subject><dc:subject>Interiors--Georgia--Atlanta</dc:subject><dc:subject>Celebrations--Georgia--Atlanta</dc:subject><dc:subject>Men--1900-1910</dc:subject><dc:subject>Tables</dc:subject><dc:subject>Decorations--Georgia--Atlanta</dc:subject><dc:subject>Flower arrangements</dc:subject><dc:subject>Clothing & dress--1900-1910</dc:subject><dc:subject>Governors--Georgia</dc:subject><dc:title>Dinner Honoring Joseph M.
