James to serve as the first official governor's mansion in Atlanta. The home had been designed by architect W. H. Perkins. Seventeen governors occupied this Peachtree Street residence, until Governor Dorsey vacated the increasingly dilapidated building in 1921. The home was subsequently demolished in 1923 and replaced by the Henry Grady Hotel. The Westin Peachtree Plaza now occupies the site.</dc:description><dc:format>image/jpeg</dc:format><dc:identifier>VIS 170.2432.001</dc:identifier><dc:identifier>ahc1702432001.jpg</dc:identifier><dc:publisher>Atlanta, Ga. : Kenan Research Center</dc:publisher><dc:rights>http://rightsstatements.org/vocab/NoC-US/1.0/</dc:rights><dc:source>Atlanta History Photograph Collection</dc:source><dc:subject>Houses--Georgia--Atlanta</dc:subject><dc:subject>Facades--Georgia--Atlanta</dc:subject><dc:subject>Fences--Georgia--Atlanta</dc:subject><dc:subject>Sidewalks--Atlanta--Georgia</dc:subject><dc:subject>Pedestrians--Georgia--Atlanta</dc:subject><dc:subject>Hitching posts</dc:subject><dc:subject>Clothing & dress--1880-1890</dc:subject><dc:subject>Architecture, Victorian--Georgia--Atlanta</dc:subject><dc:subject>James, John H.--Homes & haunts--Georgia--Atlanta</dc:subject><dc:subject>Georgia Governor's Mansion (Atlanta, Ga.)</dc:subject><dc:title>Governor's Mansion</dc:title><dc:type>StillImage</dc:type></oai_dc:dc>
