When it opened its doors in 1885 at the corner of Boulevard and Houston Street (now John Wesley Dobbs Avenue), it was the first educational institution in Georgia solely under the patronage of African Americans. The four-year, private, coeducational, liberal arts college later relocated to the Vine City community west of downtown Atlanta. The school lost its accreditation in 2002 after a financial mismanagement scandal.</dc:description><dc:format>image/jpeg</dc:format><dc:identifier>VIS 170.371.002</dc:identifier><dc:identifier>ahc170371002.jpg</dc:identifier><dc:publisher>Atlanta, Ga. : Kenan Research Center</dc:publisher><dc:rights>http://rightsstatements.org/vocab/NoC-US/1.0/</dc:rights><dc:source>Atlanta History Photograph Collection</dc:source><dc:subject>Schools--Georgia--Atlanta</dc:subject><dc:subject>Universities and colleges--Georgia--Atlanta</dc:subject><dc:subject>Buildings--Atlanta--Georgia</dc:subject><dc:subject>Streets--Georgia--Atlanta</dc:subject><dc:subject>Sidewalks--Atlanta--Georgia</dc:subject><dc:subject>Fences--Georgia--Atlanta</dc:subject><dc:title>Morris Brown College and Boulevard School</dc:title><dc:type>StillImage</dc:type></oai_dc:dc>
