The following year, the school occupied the John Neal home at the corner of Mitchell and Washington Streets in downtown Atlanta, Georgia. In 1888, a new, three-story red brick building was added to the site to accommodate the growing student body. In the mid-1920s, Girls’ High moved to a new facility on Rosalia Street in the Grant Park neighborhood and the buildings at the corner of Mitchell and Washington Streets were demolished to make room for Atlanta City Hall. In 1947 public schools became co-educational and Girls’ High School was renamed Roosevelt High School. It continued until 1985 when it merged with Hoke Smith Technical School.
