Old Home, One Of The Landmarks Near LaGrange. This house was built in 1850 by Colonel Charles Cabaniss Bailey for his daughter, Mrs. John Humphrey Traylor, and is still in possession of the family. Mrs. Traylor was the mother of Mrs. Thomas Northen and the late Mr. George M. Traylor of Atlanta, Miss Elizabeth Traylor and the late Mr. Tom Traylor, Mr. Jerry Traylor and Marshall Traylor, all of LaGrange, and her grandchildren in Atlanta are Mrs. Jack Thiesen, Miss Ruth Northen and Mr. George Traylor Northern, her other granddaughters being Mrs. Thomas Dunham, of Miami, Fla; Mrs. Allan Putnam and Mrs. Otey McClellan of New York, and Mrs. Pickens Gates of Huntsville, Ala. Here Jefferson Davis was entertained. The old wistaria vine still climb across the porch, and the garden still boasts of boxwood clump, crape myrtles, and tall deodar cedars.
