Various trials and ordination sermons for prospective new members were presented. Reports on domestic missions and on the state of religion were presented. The religious instruction of "colored people" was raised and it was eventually resolved to license "colored" ministers and preachers. At the opening of the American Civil War the presbytery voted to sever ties with the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church of the United States of America and align with the Presbyterian Church in the Confederate States of America.</dc:description><dc:description>Institution: C.
