She transcended to her heavenly home on Sunday, May 14 at 6:30 a.m. Mrs. Taylor was a product of the Evans County School system. She attended Evans County High School and graduated in 1948 with the honor of class salutatorian. At the age of 10 on December 7, 1941, she joined Thomas Grove AME Church where she served faithfully until her death. As a servant leader and member of Thomas Grove AME Church, she held numerous positions including the offices of church treasurer, church secretary, stewardess, missionary, and Sunday School teacher. Mrs. Taylor was also active in the community by serving as a founding member of the Evans County Afro American Society. She leaves to cherish her fond memories, one son: Carlos Nails (Thomasina) of Hobbs, NM; two daughters: Mary Wyatt of Claxton, GA, Karen Nails-Porter (Derrick) of Daytona Beach, FL; one adopted daughter: Bobbie Stuckey of Statesboro, GA; two brothers: Warnell Brown of Cherry Hill, NJ and Daniel Kirby, Jr. (Allison) of Orlando, FL; one sister, Toni Watson (Sidney) of San Antonio, TX; one biological grandson, Justin Blitch of Atlanta, GA; two adopted grandsons, Roland Lane, Jr. and Chandler Stuckey, both of Statesboro, GA; two adopted granddaughters, Catawba Walton (Dexter) and Kendra Lane, all of Statesboro, GA; three great grandchildren and three great, great grandchildren. She had two lifelong friends, Mrs. Earlean Bailey and Mrs. Ida Mae Sapp; an extended family: Mr. and Mrs. O. H. Smith, Jr. (Betty); Angie Miller (Joe), Kelly Miller (Keith), Kathy Wilbanks (Ricky), Jenny Chapman (Steve), and a host of loved ones that affectionately referred to her as Granny.
