Mrs. Alma was united in marriage to the late Sam Toomer, to this union 6 children were horn of which 2 preceded her in death, James Henry & Deborah Eugenia. She joined First African under the leadership of Reverend S.L. Lee. She served in various ministries. Vice PresidentIMission 1986, Chaplain/ Deaccmess ministry, 1992, and adult Sunday School Teacher. Mrs. Alma was faithful in her service to God until her health failed. Mrs Almas work history included the Stillmore & Claxton Poultry Industries. She enjoyed fishing, gardening and sewing. She leaves to cherish here memory; sons, Mr. Samuel Walter Toomer, Statesboro, and Mr, Gerald Leonard Toomer, Tallahassee, Florida; daughters, Mrs. Georgia A. Johnson and Ms. Taunya Lynn Toomer, Claxton; one sister, Mrs Agnes Warren, New York, New York; sister-in-law, LouAudrey Hayes, Atlanta, Georgia, six grandchildren, Ms. Tracey Jermon, Mrs. Cindy (Antone') Freeman, Jennifer (Rufus) Lovett, all of Claxton; Mr. Horace (Amber) Allen, Metter, Ga; Ms. Shannika Tillman, Savannah, Ga.; Ms. Shaniqua Toomer, Tallahassee, Florida; eight great grandchildren; Three spiritual sisters, Ms. Willie Mae Williams, Mrs. Luretha Tillman and Mrs. Ollie Mae Ricks, all of Claxton; several nieces, nephews, cousins and many sorrowing friends.
