ISSAC CULBRETH, JR. - PASTOR OFFICIATING HARPERS FUNERAL HOME IN CHARGE OBITUARY Mr. Virginia Albert, Jr., the fourth child of six was born December 1, 1926 to the late Mr. Virginia and Leadie Pouncey Albert in Orlando, Florida. After graduating from Jones High School in Orlando he attended South Carolina State College Orangeburg, S. C. where he received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Health and Physical Education. He later moved to Claxton, Georgia where he met and married Miss Gladys Hamilton of Goldsboro, N. C. and united with the St. John Missionary Baptist Church. On the evening of May 8,1988, he departed this life to join loved ones who patiently wait, on deaths other side to open the gate. He served in the U. S. Army for two years during World World II where he attained the rank of Staff Sergeant. Before moving to Claxton he worked in the City Recreation Department of Orlando, Florida. His duties as coach and teacher began at Evans County High School and later at Claxton High School. During his years of service in education he received many awards and acts of appreciation from civic organizations, former student groups and State organizations. He was a member of Georgia Association of Educators, Georgia Athletic Association, NAACP, Kappa Alpha Psi. Fraternity, Inc., and the Georgia Retired Teachers Association. Coach Albert was a devoted coach in Evans County until he became ill and was forced into early retirement in 1983. He was held in high esteem by his co-workers, students and citizens. In 1984 he received the Claxton-Evans County Civic Award in recognition of Outstanding Community Services. His survivors are his ioving wife, Mrs. Giadys H. Aibert, Ciaxton, Georgia: one daughter, Mrs. Daphne A. Sheppard, Savannah, Georgia: two sisters, Mrs. Arizona Page and Mrs. Margaret Potter of Oriando, Fiorida: one grandchiid: one son-in-iaw, Mr. Rory Sheppard, Savannah, Georgia: five sisters- in-iaw: three brothers-in-iaw and severai nieces, nephews other reiatives and friends. And the grave is not its goai. Dust thou art, to dust returnest. Was not spoken of the soui. Oh Lord, thou art our refuge and strength Lintii the shadows ienghten and evening comes.
