OBITUARY Mrs. DeAlva Jones, the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Pompey Jones, was born October 17, 1928 at Claxton, Georgia. Mrs. Jones passed sud- denly at her home in Atlanta, Georgia on Mon- day, January 22, 1973. At the age of nine, she was converted and join- ed the St. John Baptist Church of this City under the pastorate of the late Rev. J. P. Pearson. She served faithfully on the Ushers Board and in the Choir until she moved to Atlanta some years ago. She was united in marriage to Mr. Brady Rat- liff; this union ended in divorce. She leaves to mourn two brothers, Mr. J. Ran- dolph Jones, Claxton, Ga.; Mr. Reno Jasper Jones, Vidalia Ga.; one sister, Mrs. Mildred Rock, Brunswick, Ga.; four aunts, Mrs. Novella Hens- ley and Mrs. Rosetta Jones, Claxton, Ga. Mrs. Co- rine Kent, Savannah, Ga.; Mrs. Lillia Bryant, Pittsburgh, Pa.; one uncle, Mr .Raleigh Macon, Claxton, Ga. a grandmother, Mrs. Sallie Ann Ma- con, Claxton, Ga.; one sister-in-law, Mrs. Zim- mer Ann Jones, one brother-in-law, Mr. Richard Rock, four nieces; one nephew; cousins and a host of other relatives and friends. Thus Star by Star declines Till all are past away; As morning high and higher shines To purer and perfect day.
