Our Mom 
Mom was truly the best thing that ever happened to us 
Of all the known women, she was all-powerful and just 
Mom used to come home from a hard days work and was never still 
All in all, she was a wonderfid, spiritual woman with Good-will 
No other could ever take our mothers place 
She fought a good fight and she ran a great race 
You will always be remembered in everything we do 
Go, Be With God, Well soon be there too 
 
Ms. Melrose Slater Jackson was born on May 14, 1929, to the late Mr. Grady Slater and Sarah McClain 
Badger. In 1951, she was united in holy matrimony to Mr. Jacob (Buck) Jackson which he preceded her 
in death. She was a member of the Church of God in Collins, Georgia, where she served faithfully as an 
usher for many years until her health failed. She leaves to cherish many fond memories 14 children, one 
which preceded her in death, Mr. Willie Lee (Bill) Jackson; Troy Bacon Jr. (Earnestine) of Tampa, Florida; 
Henry Lee Bacon of Trenton, NJ; Lillie Joyce Wilson, Doris Williams, Teresa Jackson, Jerry Jackson, 
Freddie Jackson, Michele Holmes (Jerome) all of Claxton, Georgia; Eddie Jackson (Linda) of Collins, 
Georgia; Gary Jackson of Soperton, Georgia; Steve Jackson of Nichols, Georgia; Carrie Hall (James) of 
Manassas, Georgia; Mary Owens (Edgar) of Pembroke, Georgia; Marynell Hampton ofNevils, Georgia. 
Eleven sisters and brothers two which preceded her in death, Roosevelt Slater and Moses J. Badger Jr.; 
Evelyn Bacon (Joe) Felton Slater, Sarah Williams, James T Slater, Flossie Norman, Annie Grace Badger, 
Jenell Hayward (Roy) all of Claxton, Georgia; Earnest R. Badger of Daly City, California; Willie E. 
Badger (Gloria) of Sacramento, California; Earnestine Badger-Henderson and Katherine Sapp ofOkland, 
California. One aunt, Ms. Grade Mae Davis of Claxton, Georgia; 3 sisters-in-law, Ms. Sarah Jennings 
of Savannah, Georgia; Ms. Mary Jackson ofjesup, Georgia; and Ms. Neomia Slater of Claxton, Georgia. 
One daughter-in-law, Etora Jackson, and one special friend EvaNell Burney. 48 grandchildren, 3 special 
grandchildren, Tracy McMillan, Tony Mathis and Shalonda Williams. 47 great grands and a host of 
nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

you cared. You made our lives full of joy. You spreaded 
your love all around. It ajfected us, girls and boys.

life that means much more than words could ever show. 
Your faith is a testimony to all who knew you.
