He went home to glory early Saturday morning, March 22, 2008 at Pleasant View Nursing Home in Metter, Georgia. Ezekiel Baker was joined in holy matrimony to Bessie Levant in October, 1939. To this union, seven children were bom and three of these children preceded him in death. He attended school in Liberty County, Georgia. At an early age. Deacon Ezekiel joined Jerusalem Baptist where he was a devoted member who worked faith- fully in the church. His faithful Christian service resulted in him being ordained a deacon. Deacon Baker was a farmer most of his adult life and he enjoyed planting and harvesting various crops and started to plant pine trees to preserve his land. He also worked as an Evans County School Bus Driver where he retired in 1976. Dea- con Baker was a member of Saint Joseph Masonic Lodge #76 for 50 years. He leaves to cherish many fond memories: two daughters, Lollie Baker Byrd (Frank) of Hanover, MD and Juanita Smith of Salisbury, MD; three sons, Char- lie Baker, Jr. of Bowie, MD, Larry Baker (Inez) of Washington, D.C. and Albert Baker of Claxton, GA; two brothers, Roscoe Baker and Joseph H. Baker of Washing- ton, D.C., one sister-in-law. Rose Love of Cincinnati, OH and Mary L. Hayes of Claxton, GA a close family friend who he treated like a daughter. He also leaves to mourn: ten grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren, and four great great grandchil- dren and a host of nephews, nieces, other relatives, and friends. The Day God Called You Home God looked around his Garden and found an empty place. He then looked down upon his earth and saw your loving face. He put his arms around you and lifted you to rest. His Garden must be beautiful, he always takes the best. He knew that you were suffering, he knew you were in pain. And knew that you would never get well on earth again. He saw your path was difficult, he closed your tired eyes. He whispered to you Peace be Thine and gave you wings to fly. When we saw you sleeping so calm and free of pain. We would not wish you back to earth to suffer once again. Youve left us precious memories, your love will be our guide. You live on through your children, youre always by our side. It broke our hearts to lose you, but you did not go alone. For part of us went with you on the day God called you home. Processional Selection.... Scripture.... Invocation... Selection....
