OBITUARY 
Mr. Roosevelt (Hookie) Slater Sr. was bom December 29,1933, 
in Liberty County, Georgia, to the late Grady Slater and Sarah 
McClain. 
His battle of life was won on Friday, November 26, 2004, at the 
Veterans Hospital in Dublin, GA. He joined the U.S. Army and 
served in the Korean War. 
He was a faithful member of Green Cypress Baptist Church in 
Claxton, GA, until his health failed him. 
He was united in holy matrimony to Neomia Mincey. To this 
union eight children were bom. Three of them preceded him in 
death, Grady Slater, Sandra D. Slater, and Keywana Slater. 
He leaves to cherish his memories his loving and devoted wife, 
Neomia Slater of Claxton, GA; three sons, Kelly Slater, 
Roosevelt Slater Jr. (Patricia), both of Claxton, GA, and Charles 
Slater of Tampa, FL; two daughters, lomia Slater of Oakland, 
CA, and Erma Jean Slater of Claxton, GA; two guardian grand- 
children, Breon S. Geiger and Jawana M. Mobley of Claxton, 
GA; his loving mother, Sarah M. Badger of Claxton, GA; eight 
sisters, Evelyn Bacon (Joe), Melrose Jackson (Jacob), Sarah 
Williams, Flossie Norman (Paul), Annie Grace Badger, Jenel 
Hayward (Roy), all of Claxton, GA; Ernestine Badger and Kathy 
Sapp of Oakland, CA; four brothers, Felton Slater Sr. and James 
T. Slater Sr. of Claxton, GA, Ernest Badger of San Erancisco, 
CA, and Willie Ed Badger of Sacramento, CA; two aunts, Laurie 
McClain of Savannah, GA, and Gracie Davis of Claxton, GA; six 
sisters-in-law, Helen McClain (Henry) and Catherine Mincey of 
Claxton, GA, Sarah Cox and Gladys Mincey of Glennville, GA, 
Josie Mae Mincey of Savannah, GA, Jewell Sharp (Billy), 
Shirley Ann Rogers (Edward), and Willie McKinnon (Bill) of 
Reidsville, GA; two brothers-in-law, Jerry Mincey (Dorothy) and 
Larry Mincey of Savannah, GA; ten grandchildren, fourteen 
great-grandchildren, and a host of loving and caring nieces, 
nephews, other relatives and friends.
