Sis. Robertha Everett Byrd, the second child of thirteen was bom January 24, 1914 to the late Mr. Jasper and Mrs. Tmmilla Rivers Everett in Collins, Georgia. Sis. Robertha Everett Byrd slipped away into Jesus arms on December 12, 2000 at Claxton Nursing Home in Claxton, Georgia. On December 15, 1941 she was united in holy matrimony to Mr. Simmie Byrd who preceded her in death. She was united with Charlton Grove Missionary Baptist Church at an early age. After leaving home, she united with Shiloh Baptist Church, New Rochelle, New York where she served as a faithful member until returning to her home church, Charlton Grove Missionary Baptist Church. She was active in the Missionary Ministry, the President of the Home Burial Society Ministry, a member of the NAACP and also the first black kindergarten teacher at Berthas Kindergarten. She retired from Concerted Services in 1994. She leaves to cherish her memory; twin daughters, Thelma (Fred) Powell, Littleton, NC, Zelma Woodard of Claxton, GA, son-in-law, Herschel McCoy of Elizabeth, NJ; one god-daughter, Patricia Jackson of Claxton, GA; two sisters, Maggie Brewton of Mount Vernon, NY, Ruby Dell (McKinley) Baker of Claxton, GA; three brothers-in- law, J. D. Brewton of Richmond, VA, Ulysses Bacon of Claxton, GA, Robert Posley of Metter, GA, seven sisters- in-law, Ella Everett, New Rochelle, NY, Sadie Ruth Everett, Metter, GA, Mattie Lee Everett, Collins, GA, Linda Byrd, Detroit, MI, Catherine Byrd, Pittsburg, PA, Beatrice Byrd, Metter, GA, Wethamae Posley, Metter, GA; five grandchildren, William (Annette) McCoy, Claxton, GA, Kim (Joseph) Wingfield, Morrow, GA, Juliet Woodward, Hagan, GA and Deanna and Fredrick Powell , Chespeake, VA, eleven great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
